July 13th-14th, 2007:

    The weather cooperated with me once more.  I started hiking from Longmire around 3 PM on friday afternoon.  The trail followed the main road for about half a mile before abruptly gaining about 1000’ to Rampart ridge.  On the other side of the ridge, I dropped back down to Kautz creek where I was able to observe the damage of last winter’s storms.  From here, I followed another mile or so of fairly level trail to Pyramid Creak.  I was now on my last ascent up to Indian Henry’s.  The obnoxious amount of blood sucking mosquitoes peaked at Devils Dream Camp, where after stopping for the third time, I decided to keep the bug repellent in my pocket for easy access.
