Indian Henry’s Hunting Grounds

The one place where there seemed to be few mosquitoes was the beautiful box canyon waterfall onDream creek, just before Devils Dream campground.  I stopped here for a while to snap some photos.

Arriving at Indian Henry’s around 8 PM I was just coming to the conclusion that I was the only sole up there when I passed the Ranger.  He seemed happy to see me, as he was awaiting my arrival.  He mentioned a couple of good campsites and sent me on my way the last 1.5 miles to camp.

I managed to find a nice snow field to camp on that looked out toward Mt. Adams to the south while up at Rainier and Pyramid Peak to the north.  I set up camp, snapped a few photos of the sunset, and crashed for the night.  After a short night’s rest, I awoke to take photos of the sunrise at 4:30.  By 7:30, the land was pretty well illuminated and I decided to ascend Pyramid Peak where I would hopefully take a much needed nap.  When I reached the top of the peak, the view was even better than I imagined it’d be.  However, the mosquitoes were so thick, I didn’t sleep for fear I’d wake up with an eye swollen shut.  After an hour or so I descended back to camp and prepared for my trip out.

I stopped and visited the ranger at Indian Henry’s Patrol cabin until 4PM and then returned to  by 7PM
